Mahsa Shadafarin is a Kurdish-Iranian fashion designer and stylist based in Vancouver.

Growing up across different cultures, she witnessed how nationality, ethnicity, and gender can shape a person’s freedom, opportunities, and sense of belonging. These experiences shaped her—not by forcing her to choose between softness and strength, but by teaching her that the two can exist together. She learned that vulnerability does not weaken us, and that strength does not require us to lose our gentleness.

Fashion became the language through which Mahsa could transform these experiences into something powerful. Through her work, she encourages women to embrace every part of themselves—their strength and sensitivity, darkness and light, control and freedom—without believing that one must be sacrificed for the other.

Her design practice explores these contrasts through sculptural silhouettes, fluid draping, sharp construction, and body-conscious forms. A restrained palette of black, deep neutrals, and metallic accents allows texture, movement, and symbolic details to take focus. Each garment is developed not only as an object to be worn, but as part of a larger emotional and visual narrative.

Working across fashion design and styling, Mahsa creates garments and complete looks rooted in identity, transformation, and modern femininity. Her intention is to give women presence without disguising who they are—through pieces designed to be felt and built to be remembered.
